Here’s how it works.
1. Solar Panels
Solar panels can absorb energy from sunlight. They will then convert that energy into electricity, which then flows from the solar panels to the inverter.
2. Inverter
It turns the direct-current (DC) electricity from the solar panels into the alternating-current (AC) electricity which can power your property.
3. Net Meter
It is your property’s electricity regulator which feeds electricity in and out of your office or home as needed. When the sun goes down, the meter powers your property from the electric grid. When your panels generate more electricity than usual during bright days, the meter routes that excess energy back to the grid.
4. The Grid
An interconnected network of transmission lines, distribution lines, demand centers, and local power plants, the electric grid connects local power plants to consumers.
